Curator & independent researcher.

About

Right now I divide my time between Köttinspektionen, where I work as curator and part of the team; as curator of a public art commission in Uddevalla; as project leader and producer for Borås Art Biennial; and with RUSMUS, investigating art in public space.
In addition, I continue to write and curate international projects with many colleagues and institutions.

Alba Folgado is a curator based in Uppsala (Sweden), who holds a MA in Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art, London and followed CuratorLab at Konstfack University, Stockholm.
She is curator and co-director of Köttinspektionen art space in Uppsala and founder of ‘A Movement to Hold’, an archive of artistic representations that revisits critical and non-hegemonic experiences. Folgado also works as Project leader and producer for Borås Art Biennial. Previously, she worked as Assistant Curator at Stedelijk Museum Bureau in Amsterdam.

Folgado has curated a number of exhibitions and programmes at international institutions, including Gasworks (London), Konsthall C (Stockholm), Moderna Dans Teatern (Stockholm), Meetfactory (Prague), TRAFO (Szczecin), CentroCentro (Madrid), and JA.CA (Belo Horizonte), among many others.

Her practice usually engages with the visual narratives of social movements and uprisings, including affective and counter-historical questions. A big part of her research is also focussed on spatial questions, which lead her to curate multiple projects in the public space, as well as itinerant programmes with various municipalities and independent projects, such as RUSMUS in Uppsala, Jönköping kommun or Uddevalla kommun.
